Panda Travel · Big Almaty Lake + Alma-Arasan
An early bus takes you straight up to Big Almaty Lake and on to the Alma-Arasan hot springs, with a meal, in about four hours. Pick it for the price and the timing: it is the cheapest way up without walking, and the 6 am start puts you at the lake before the day groups.

Panda Travel is a high-volume Almaty operator; it also runs the long Charyn Canyon day trip. This one is short and simple. You meet the guide in front of the Renion Zyliha hotel between 6:00 and 6:15 am, find the bus, and drive about an hour up to Big Almaty Lake. The listing promises no hiking: the vehicles take you to the viewpoints, and the water's colour shifts with the light as the sun clears the ridges.
After the lake the group goes down to Alma-Arasan, a gorge known for its radon hot springs, with trails and old sanatoriums nearby. Entry tickets, the guide and a meal are included. At four hours, you are back in Almaty by mid to late morning with the whole day ahead of you. That is the real selling point, along with a from-price of $49, the lowest of any car tour here.
Two honest caveats. The springs are the weak link: in July and August 2026 several guests wrote that the Alma-Arasan road was blocked for safety or closed by debris, and their group skipped it. And this is a bigger operation than Adam Hiking Tours, which has a higher rating (4.8 against 4.6). Here you are paying less for a fast, early, well-run bus trip.
Find the guide in front of the hotel and board the bus. Late arrivals can miss it.
South out of the city and up the Big Almaty gorge, with a passport check at the park post.
Viewpoints above the water in the morning light, often the stillest time of day for reflections.
The radon hot springs in the next gorge, if the road is open, and the included meal.
Drop-off back in the city with most of the day still free.

That is what the listing promises: a direct transfer to the lake and no hike. Expect short walks on uneven ground at the viewpoints and at the springs, but nothing like the 6 to 7 km climb from the barrier.

Not always. In July and August 2026 guests reported the road was blocked for safety or closed by debris, and those groups skipped the springs. The lake visit went ahead.
It is shorter (four hours), runs as a bigger group and has no hotel pickup. The lake time is similar to the other car tours. You pay more for Adam Hiking Tours mostly for the smaller groups and the higher rating.
